CONFIRMED ARTISTS 2010
Milton Cobo Within his first 3 years of dancing, Milton accomplished much more than he ever thought possible. He traveled to cities throughout North America, Europe, and the Caribbean, teaching Salsa (Chicago, San Francisco, Atlanta, Miami, Los Angeles, Austin, DC, NY, Toronto, Montreal, London, Manchester, Amsterdam, Paris, and San Juan, to name a few). He and his brother gave birth to “The CoboBrothers”. Most importantly, he learned to fully appreciate Salsa dancing as an art, whether On 1 or 2, LA or NY, Cuban or Colombian, beginner or advanced... Although Milton still had plenty to learn, the ability to appreciate various interpretations of the art of dancing Salsa was his biggest accomplishment at that point. His biggest challenge now, is managing his life as an engineer (in RTP, North Carolina) and his life as a world traveling instructor/performer. James Cobo, Co-founder of the CoboBrothers Dance Company, was reared in Elizabeth, New Jersey, amidst the pulsating Latin rhythms of Fania All Stars, El Gran Combo, Sonora Ponceña, Grupo Niche, Joe Cuba, Tipica 73 and many other inspirational musicians that roared from the speakers of his father's home audio system. A Graduate of New Jersey Institute of Technology with a Bachelor's Degree of Science in Electrical Engineering, James moved to Raleigh North Carolina in 1996. Shortly after moving to North Carolina James caught his first glimpse of the NY Mambo dance scene while visiting home in New Jersey for a weekend. A spontaneous visit at the Copa Cabana on 57th St in New York City that weekend was the catalyst for him to commence training and turn professional.
